Department Information
Dallas County Fire & Rescue serves the citizens of the
unincorporated area of Dallas County. This area encompasses approximately 35 square
miles on the South East part of the county. The department is housed in Old Dallas
Station 9, which was built in 1951 for the Kleberg volunteer Fire Dept. It is a 2
bay brick building with living quarters and is staffed most of the time with DCFR
Volunteers.
DCFR is under the direction of the Dallas County Fire Marshal Jim
Badgett and Chief Joel Dulworth. The dept. membership is made up of 20 active members and
20 reserve members. The department was formed in 1983 to serve the unincorporated
areas of the county and started out in a mobile home which was later replaced with a tin
barn that members built. In 1991 DCFR moved into the current location when DFD moved out.
